Kerry's Equipment: Sailrite SR 200
Purchased in 1997, this baby has been one of my best friends. It's a portable, industrial machine made by Sailrite. It allows me sew through heavy materials like boat canvas and leather, while handling delicate fabrics, as well. I sit cross-legged on the floor in front of the machine, operating the foot pedal with my right knee. Back in the day, when I spent time in Nepal and India, I watched the tailors there sew while sitting in a similar position, and began to try it when I got this machine, which was too heavy for any tables that I owned at the time. So far, so good.
